How to Narrow the Pelvic Floor
There’s a soft narrowing deep in the body…
barely there, but supportive.
In the GYROTONIC® Method, this is not about force.
It’s about awareness of feeling whole.
The pelvic floor is not meant to be clenched.
It responds to breath, to rhythm, to intention.
🌿 How to Narrow the Pelvic Floor
1. Let’s begin with your exhale
The pelvic floor responds naturally to breath.
As you exhale, allow the base of your pelvis to gently draw inward and slightly lift.
No pushing. No forcing.
2. Think “gather,” not “grip”
Imagine a soft drawstring closing at the base of your pelvis.
It’s subtle. Quiet. Responsive.
3. Soften your jaw and tongue
Let your tongue rest heavy in the floor of your mouth.
Unclench your jaw.
A soft mouth allows the pelvic floor to respond with intelligence rather than tension.
4. Use minimal effort
If you feel strain, you’ve gone too far.
This work lives in refinement, not intensity.
5. Let it release on the inhale
The pelvic floor widens and softens as you inhale.
This rhythm is essential.
Contraction without release creates holding, not support.
🌿 Try This
Close your eyes.
Soften your tongue.
Unhook your jaw.
Exhale slowly…
and feel a gentle narrowing at the base of your pelvis.
Inhale… let it soften.
Stay here for a few breaths.
Notice the difference between effort… and response.
This narrowing is intelligent.
It supports the spine.
It organizes the body from the inside out.
It creates a sense of lightness… even before movement begins.
But it only appears when there is no force.
Over time, this becomes less of an exercise…
and more of a language.
A conversation between breath, jaw, tongue… and pelvic floor.
A way of moving through the world with subtle strength.
Feel your exhale.
